Coming from the Beach in Southern California I did not know what to expect from Breckenridge. All I knew about this little mountain town nestled in the Rocky Mountains about an hour and a half from Denver was that it had a great ski resort.
My move from Manhattan Beach went pretty smooth, except for almost running out of gas in the middle of nowhere! I stopped in Denver and met up with Tara and got to meet her friends who live there. It was great to know some people that lived there already!
When I arrived in Breckenridge on October 2nd, I almost immediately felt at home. I grew up in a small town in Vermont called Adamant and it reminded me of it. It was a sunny day as I walked around town for the first time and took a glance at the little shops and abundant restaurants and bars that lined main street. This was going to be a great winter I thought to myself. With the trails of Breckenridge ski resort shining down on this little town I knew I was going to have some fun here.
When Mike arrived on Thursday October 5th it was raining out but nothing could stop our excitement of finally being in the same town and being able to work on the travel company and hit the slopes. We moved into our place the next day and immediately loved it. Our apartment is a 3 bedroom located right in downtown and with amazing views of the mountain. Our place was partially furnished with very eclectic furnishings and had a great vibe to it.
We moved in and went out that night and ended up meeting some great people that have turned into great friends already. Devita and Shawna let us stay at their place when we moved her and have become great friends. Steve, Margaret, and Karen live upstairs and they all seem very cool. We met a girl named Allison and she introduced us to Alice. The four of us have already become great friends and have hit the mountain already at A-basin. They live right next store to us and we cook dinner and hit the town quite often. They are also big supporters of Adventures Around The World and have helped us out immensely! Go A-Team! Check out our photos and article on Powder.com from our first day of the season.
Plus we've met other people along the way and its not even the skiing season yet. So in closing, Yea I miss the beach and the friends I made there and in Los Angles. But I am going to enjoy my time in Breckenridge and work hard and play hard. How can you not? It snowed 14 inches last night!
Cheers,
Kevin
